Case 3 – neck pain with referral to arms

• Office worker with 2 month history of neck, shoulder, arm pain with pins and needles/numbness and developed heaviness in arm
• Had already been referred to a triage clinic for investigations
• Abnormal skin sensation and reflexes found
• Dean had previously helped her with a shoulder problem
• 3 physiotherapy sessions – gentle mobilisations to high cervical spine to off-load lower cervical spine where symptoms were originating
• Advice+++ on off-loading sensitive nerve structures
• After 2 sessions, patient reported they were 100% normal with no pins and needles/numbness (was 45% normal at start of treatment).
